WPC Canada Future Leaders: Executive Director Position

2 years: 1 year minimum + 1 year in advising capacity

WPC Canada Future Leaders invites applications for an Executive Director position. The position is based in Calgary, reports to the Chair of WPC Canada Future Leaders, and leads a subcommittee of WPC Canada Future Leader volunteers. Further details are below.

Purpose

To manage the daily operation of the organization and execute the strategic imperatives developed by the Board of Directors (BOD).

Role Description

The Executive Director will be required to:

  • Develop a business plan as per the strategic imperatives directed by the BOD
  • Develop organizational model with key job responsibilities to meet strategic objectives
  • Recruit and engage volunteers 
  • Develop volunteer and committee succession plan for sustainability
  • Provide monthly progress communication (including financials) to BOD
  • Act as key representative to Future Leader members in the community
  • Manage day-to-day activities in a fiscally responsible manner

Specific Areas of Focus

The following is a list of specific areas that will need to be developed:

  • Event Planning – Technical, Soft Skills and Social
  • Fiscal Management / Sponsorship
  • Partnerships – Academia, Government, Technical and Young Professional Societies
  • Branding/Marketing/Communication – Develop and maintain
  • Volunteer recruiting, development, recognition and team building engagement
  • Growth & Development – New opportunities to align with strategic objectives
  • Membership engagement – Engage and maintain membership relationships
  • 2021 WPC Houston Congress – supporting WPC Canada engagement
  • 2023 WPC Calgary Congress – planning/development/execution of Future Leaders program at the 24th WPC Congress

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in business, law, sciences or arts
  • Minimum five years work experience leading a team
  • Engaged in the Canadian Energy Sector
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Event planning and past volunteer experience considered an asset
