Cody Parrish

Background and experience

Cody Parrish, MBA Before serving on the Future Leaders Board of Directors, World Petroleum Council (WPC) Canada, Cody was the Program Director for the 4th WPC Youth Forum held in Calgary in 2013. He was responsible for leading a team of volunteers that developed and executed a world class program with speakers, experts, and industry leaders from around the globe. The organizing committee received a Calgary Champion award from Meetings & Conventions Calgary for their efforts.

Cody has spent his professional background working in various land, strategy and planning roles. Cody is currently a Senior Land Negotiator with Ember Resources. Cody also serves on the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen (CAPL) General Meetings Committee.

Cody holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Petroleum Land Management from the University of Calgary as well as a MBA and Certificate in Socially Responsible Leadership from Queen’s University.  

Jennifer Winter

Assistant Professor and Scientific Director, Energy and Environmental Policy with University of Calgary

Background and experience

Jennifer Winter (PhD, Calgary) is an Assistant Professor and Scientific Director of the Energy and Environmental Policy research division at The School of Public Policy, University of Calgary. Her research is focused on the effects of government regulation and policy on energy development and the associated consequences and trade-offs. Current research projects are the prospects for Canadian LNG exports to Europe, social impacts of hydraulic fracturing, and comparing provincial emission-reduction policies. Dr. Winter is actively engaged in increasing public understanding of energy and environmental policy issues; recognition of her efforts include a 2014 Young Women in Energy Award and being named one of Alberta Oil Magazine’s Top 35 Under 35 in 2016. Dr. Winter serves on the Future Leaders Board of Directors, World Petroleum Council Canada.

Lauren Rooney

Business Strategy Manager with Accenture

Background and experience

Lauren is a Manager in Accenture’s Strategy Practice focused on operating model design, strategy development, organizational effectiveness, and project management. Lauren works with clients in the energy, manufacturing, insurance and not-for-profit sectors. In addition to her client work she co-leads the Accenture Calgary Women’s Employee Resource Group, managing the programming and development of women’s initiatives for the office.
Prior to joining Accenture Lauren worked as a Business Development Analyst at Kinder Morgan Canada and in Corporate Sustainable Development at Suncor Energy. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction from the University of Calgary, Haskayne School of Business. In 2016 Lauren was the recipient of the Young Women in Energy Award.
Lauren is passionate about energy and sustainability; she is an Advisory Board Member and former president (2010-2012) of Fuse Collective (formally the Institute for Sustainable Energy, Environment and Economy Students’ Association). Lauren has been involved with WPC since 2009 and was part of the Planning Committee for the 4th WPC Youth Forum, hosted in Calgary, Alberta in 2013.

Ramez Hanna Alla

Appraisal Engineer, Liard & Horn River Resources, Kitimat LNG, Chevron

Background and experience

Ramez Hanna Alla P.Eng is a production/reservoir engineer on the Liard basin in N.E. British Columbia, part of the Kitimat LNG project for Chevron. A University of Calgary Schulich School of Engineering Alumni, he has 5 years of unconventional/tight rock experience in the WCSB through various roles. He is actively involved in the local community, serving on Boards within the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta, and Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Calgary and Area. He is the recipient of the SPE International President’s Award for Section Excellence, a Canadian Regional Service Award Winner and was featured in Alberta Oil as one of the Inaugural top 35 under 35 in 2016.

Allyson Simpson

Background and experience

Allyson holds a Bachelor of Management, minor in Corporate Social Responsibility from the University of Lethbridge, and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Queen’s University. She also holds a certificate in responsible leadership from Queen’s University and a professional business writing certificate from Mount Royal University.
She has been featured in Alberta Oil Magazine, and Oilweek and has been actively involved with Young Women in Energy. This is her fifth year being involved with the World Petroleum Council, and she now serves as Chair, Future Leaders, WPC Canada.

Maddy Swalm

Business Strategy Consultant with Accenture

Background and experience

Maddy is a Business Strategy Consultant at Accenture where she focuses on operating model and organizational design, operational optimization using analytics, and capital planning and optimization initiatives. She primarily serves resources clients including oil and gas, mining, and midstream organizations. In addition to client work, Maddy has been actively involved in Accenture’s Women’s group, recruiting, and initiatives related to capability development of Accenture co-workers.
As Executive Director of Calgary’s WPC Future Leaders, Maddy enjoys engaging young professionals in dialog about the impact that the energy industry has on global economy as well as the future sustainable development of petroleum. Maddy has been involved with the Future Leaders since 2013 when she joined as part of the Planning Committee for the 4th WPC Youth Forum hosted in Calgary in October of that year. Maddy holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.
